Judith Spitzberg Instructor Outline CREATIVE ARTS in the CLASSROOM: This course is designed for teachers of all disciplines to learn how to engage and create in music, art, dance and poetry with the classroom curriculum of language arts, science, and social studies. The elements of line, shape and color will be explored with the concepts of melody, rhythm, form, mood and timbre in each art form. We will learn to improvise with each art and to related one medium to the other. Art paintings of famous artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Miro will come to life with music of jazz, classical and new age along and will be choreographed for each art piece. We will work in ensemble groups to design percussion accompaniments, original compositions and dance forms that you never knew you could do. The object of each lesson will be to integrate a theme of your choice such as the solar system, Greek mythology, the seasons, Native American history, weather, math patterning, water cycle, sound and other themes from the Massachusetts Frameworks through interactive and fun learning activities of the arts. No previous art experience is necessary, just imagination! |
